14 Things to do in Charleston this Weekend November 17-19


9/11 Heroes Run - Sunday - Honor those lost on 9/11 and the service of those in uniform with opening ceremonies at 1:30 PM followed by a run/walk starting at 2 PM. Race begins at the Charleston Fire and Police Department at 235 Seven Farms Drive. Cost is $35.

Belle Isle Moonshine Tasting - Friday - Taste Belle Isle Moonshine as well as other hand crafted cocktails. 4 - 7 PM at Daniel Island Grille.

Brews & Books - Friday - Grab a pint and get a jump start on holiday shopping. Itinerant Literate Books will be at Frothy Beard Brewing Company from 5 - 9 PM.

Bruckner's Second Symphony - Friday, Saturday - Charleston Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of music! 7:30 PM at The Gaillard Center. Cost is $27 - $85.

Family Volunteer Day - Help keep Charleston Beautiful by volunteering with your family to litter sweep McMahon Playground. Light breakfast at 8:30 followed by cleaning up. Prizes will be given away. 8:30 - 10:30 AM at McMahon Playground.

Festival of the Lights - Daily - Take a tour on an Adventure Sightseeing bus for an up-close look at over 700 Holiday displays. S'mores and a visit with Santa are included. Cost is $28/adults, $18/kids(4-11).

Hot Dog Toppings Competition - Sunday - Think you have the best idea for a perfectly topped hot dog? Enter your hot dog idea for a chance to win a prize and have your creation featured on the menu for the rest of the year. 1 - 6 PM at Tin Roof.

Jam on the Water Concert Cruise - Friday - Charleston Harbor Tours has a Widespread Panic Tribute Band playing live on the sunset cruise. 7 - 9 PM. Cost is $22.

Lego Parent's Survival Night - Friday - Kids 3 - 8 can come play with Legos, eat pizza and enjoy a few hours of un at The Little Gym of West Ashley. 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Cost is $25/members, $30/non-members.

Oyster Roast - Friday - Palmetto Society Oyster Roast. Food, drinks, live music, local craft beer, raffle prizes and plenty of Oysters! 7 - 11 PM at 375 Meeting Street. Cost is $50 at the door.

Puppies & Pints Brunch - Sunday - Bring your 4-legged friend and have a few mimosas with friends. Epic brunch at Bay Street Biergarten from 11 AM - 2 PM.

Salsa Basics Bootcamp - Saturday - Learn some spicy salsa moves with a bootcamp for beginners. 1 - 3:30 PM at Holy City Salsa Dance Studio. Cost is $60 and includes a student social.

Sweeney Todd - The Final Cut - Sunday - Woolfe Street Playhouse presents Sweeney Todd. Grab your tickets for Sunday before they sell out.

Swing Dancing - Saturday - Dance the night away with the Charleston Swing Dance Association. Beginner and intermediate lessons followed by their social dance from 8 - 11 PM. Lessons are $8, Dance is $5.
